Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is an important plant with homology of medicine and food. It has rich nutritional medicinal properties. used as a traditional Chinese therapeutic functions invigorating spleen, relieving cough, eliminating food, phlegm, dispersing blood stasis, promoting circulation. This review comprehensively summarized flavonoids from sea L.), including extraction methods (solvent extraction, ultrasound-assisted microwave-assisted enzyme-assisted collaborative extraction), two structure types (18 flavone aglycones 81 glycosides), detection (UV, HPLC, NMR), bioactivities (antiviral, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, weight-reducing, hypoglycemic activities), physiological metabolisms (most are converted into small molecule monophenolic acids through intestinal microbial catabolism). will supply theoretical basis valuable reference for researching exploiting in the future.
